Description

The Lynch School of Education and Human Development at Boston College invites applications for a full‑time, 9‑month, non‑tenure track assistant/associate position to teach and serve as Director of Clinical Training for our APA accredited program in Counseling Psychology. We encourage applicants from all areas of Counseling Psychology, sharing program values that endorse a social‑cultural context to understanding and intervening with individuals and systems.

The position will start summer 2027.

We are specifically seeking a colleague with administrative experience to lead the program, with interests in the areas of psychotherapy, supervision, consultation, psychological assessment, and service to diverse populations. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in our Counseling PhD program and our MPCAC‑accredited Mental Health Counseling Master’s program. A commitment to administrative leadership of an APA accredited doctoral program, teaching, advising and mentoring students is required, and previous college/graduate‑level teaching or professional training experience is preferred.

The Director of Clinical Training provides overall leadership and coordination for the Counseling Psychology doctoral program, facilitating faculty meetings and ensuring alignment around training timelines, policies, and student progress. This role oversees the full arc of the student experience from admissions and orientation through cohort advising, qualifying papers, comprehensive exams, and annual reviews, while coordinating practicum and internship/APPIC processes, including match support and related correspondence.

The DCT also maintains program accreditation compliance and documentation (APA reporting, handbook updates, alumni surveys, student files), and serves as a central point of communication among faculty, students, supervisors, alumni, and training sites, fostering a collaborative program culture and connecting students with funding, training, and professional opportunities. Some additional responsibilities may be needed during the summers for an additional stipend.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a doctoral degree (Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D.) in Counseling or Clinical Psychology, administrative experience, and have at least five years of post‑licensure clinical experience. Candidates must be licensed in any state in the United States. If licensed outside of Massachusetts, candidates must have a commitment to moving their license to Massachusetts.

Candidates should be dedicated to teaching, advising, and mentoring students across the undergraduate and graduate levels. The expected 9‑month base salary range (paid over 12 months) for this position is $120,000‑140,000. The actual pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, candidate qualifications and prior experience, scope of responsibilities, internal equity, and market considerations.
