Job DescriptionThe Baker Center for Children and Families (also known as Judge Baker Children s Center) seeks a Special Education Assistant Teacher. The role provides academic and behavioral support to students, carries out curriculum instruction within the classroom under the supervision of the special education teacher, and supports implementation of lessons tailored to students learning needs and behavioral profiles. This position offers training with direct supervision from the educational supervisor and classroom teacher.

- Plan and implement individualized and small-group lessons in specified curriculum areas (1–2 content areas) under the supervision of the special education teacher.
- Collaborate with the classroom team to develop and implement a classroom behavior management plan appropriate to students ages and social-emotional levels.
- Participate in daily classroom operations, including academic instruction and behavior management.
- Learn and apply effective behavior management techniques aligned with the school-wide model.
- Foster positive self-esteem and social growth through curriculum and behavior structure.
- Prepare Quarterly Progress Reports based on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field required.
- Experience: Experience working with children/students with special needs, preferably in a classroom setting.
- Training: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Certifications: First Aid/CPR and Physical Restraint trainings required or the ability to participate in annual training at the start of employment and annually thereafter.

- Salary: $19.00 – $25.00 per hour
