Math InstructorSalary Range: $55,000.00 to $75,000.00 annually
St. Ann's Home & School, in Methuen, MA, is a leader in special education and residential programming, offering private day programs, child and adolescent residential services, along with a broad range of outpatient services.The mission of St. Ann's Home & School is to provide a continuum of assessment, treatment, educational, and community-based services for children, adolescents, and young adults who present with a variety of mental health, emotional, and educational challenges. We seek to provide state‑of‑the‑art programming and services in collaboration with clients, their families, and other community and state agencies to help them manage their disabilities through our residential, day school, and community outreach programs with the goal of supporting the child in the least restrictive setting.
Weare seeking a skilled, compassionate, and dynamic Math Instructor to join our team of dedicated professionals. The ideal candidate is an experienced educator with a strong foundation in mathematics instruction, a deep understanding of differentiated instruction, and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students with learning and social‑emotional challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct math instruction aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks to middle and/or high school students with IEPs.
- Design and implement engaging, trauma‑sensitive, and differentiated math lessons that accommodate diverse learning profiles.
- Use data‑driven instruction and progress monitoring tools to inform instructional decisions and support IEP goals.
- Collaborate with special educators, related service providers, and support staff to provide integrated instruction and promote student success.
- Participate in IEP development, progress reporting, and team meetings.
- Foster a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom culture grounded in respect, empathy, and high expectations.
- Utilize evidence‑based practices to support students with learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, anxiety, and emotional/behavioral disorders.
- Maintain accurate documentation, records, and communication with families and team members.
- Bachelor's degree in Education with concentration in Math Education or Special Education.
- Teaching experience, including working with students with learning and social‑emotional disabilities.
- Strong understanding of trauma‑informed practices, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and differentiated instruction.
- Experience with behavior intervention plans and multi‑tiered systems of support (MTSS) preferred.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
- Passion for equity, inclusion, and whole‑child development.
- Valid Massachusetts Mathematics Teaching Licensure (Preferred)
- Master's degree in Education (M.Ed.) with concentration in Math Education or Special Education (Preferred)
The Math Instructor should be able to sit for long periods of time, write extensively, talk for long periods of time, and be able to communicate with other agency personnel, LEA representatives, families, and the children. The Math Instructor should be able to react quickly, lift and carry up to 20 pounds, climb stairs and be able to physically restrain youth in an emergency to ensure everyone’s safety is maintained.
Staff are trained in current best practice techniques to safely respond to occasional aggressive, self‑injurious or unsafe behaviors.
