Youth Development, Elementary School
The curriculum is already prepared. The AI has already determined what to teach. Your role is to help a child realize they're capable of something they never believed possible. At Alpha, academic work is completed by students in only two hours per day through adaptive learning technology. This model allows Guides to concentrate on the work that transforms lives: developing confidence, resilience, communication skills, and the drive to embrace difficult challenges.
Your day won't be spent delivering lessons from the classroom front. Instead, you'll coach students through obstacles, acknowledge their successes, and demonstrate what rigorous standards look like when combined with authentic belief. You'll oversee one K-3 cohort band—Kindergarten-1st grade or 2nd-3rd grade. Half your time goes to facilitating dynamic, one-hour workshops focused on life skills such as public speaking, concentration, and receiving feedback.
The remaining half involves coaching students both individually and in small groups, leveraging learning analytics to ensure every child progresses toward challenging weekly goals. Every moment counts. Students should emerge from your workshops more skilled than when they entered and leave your coaching sessions convinced they can accomplish more than they previously imagined. This position isn't intended for someone seeking to deliver curriculum or oversee a traditional classroom.
It's designed for someone who finds joy in motivating young children, excels with measurable results, and understands that the right coach can alter a child's path. If you've motivated kids as a teacher, coach, camp counselor, youth leader, or performer, a very different classroom experience awaits you here. This is a full-time, on-site position at one of Alpha's campuses. We recruit nationally, so job boards may show this opportunity in nearby cities without a campus.
Current positions are available in La Jolla (San Diego), Orange County (Lake Forest), Los Angeles (South Bay, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Malibu), San Francisco Bay Area (San Francisco, Palo Alto, Piedmont), Greenwich, CT, Boca Raton, Miami, Miami Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Chicago, Boston, New York City, and Kirkland (Seattle area). If you're interested in a different Alpha campus, submit your application anyway and indicate your preferred location—we'll evaluate you for the relevant opening.
You Will Be Doing
- Facilitate dynamic life-skills workshops that guide K-3 students to develop communication, concentration, feedback reception, and other lasting skills through active engagement instead of traditional lectures.
- Provide one-on-one and small-group coaching to students, utilizing Coachbot analytics, established motivation frameworks, and meaningful relationships to ensure every child stays on course for challenging weekly learning targets.
- Evaluate life-skill competency using Alpha's Test2
Pass framework, coaching students until they show genuine understanding—not merely attendance. - Modify your coaching approach to match the developmental stages of your cohort, whether that involves songs, movement, and narratives for younger children or increased independence and responsibility for older students.
- Cultivate the types of relationships where students feel confident enough to push past what they believed their limits were.
- Presenting academic lessons from a whiteboard. Academic learning happens through adaptive software for students.
- Creating curriculum from the ground up. You'll refine and customize established playbooks rather than designing lessons.
- Observing students as they work quietly on computers. Your function is active coaching, encouragement, and engagement.
- Reducing expectations when students face difficulties. Success emerges from guiding students to meet the goal, not adjusting the goal downward.
- Overseeing homework, grading assignments, or managing standard parent communications.
