Youth Development, Life Skills Coach/Career Advisor
You understand that refusing to lower the bar is the most generous thing you can do for a student. Your background includes competition, achievement, or building at a level few experience firsthand: elite-level athletics, graduation with distinction from a top-tier university, employment at a highly selective firm, or launching a venture from the ground up. Now imagine channeling that same rigor into a setting where K-12 students gain access to someone with your credentials—someone prepared to push them toward standards they never imagined reaching.
If the idea of holding students to elite expectations feels uncomfortable, this role is not for you.
Alpha leverages AI-driven 1-on-1 learning, enabling students to complete core academics in roughly two hours per day. The remaining time is devoted to life skills, passion projects, and meaningful development. At Alpha's most demanding campuses, students require more than oversight. They need a credible mentor whose personal accomplishments define the benchmark: someone capable of reading context, establishing tone, and guiding them through resistance, distraction, and doubt.
Your role is not instructional. AI manages the teaching content. You are responsible for motivating, coaching, and maintaining the same rigorous standards you''ve applied to yourself. Forty percent of your time is spent in direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching sessions that identify obstacles and establish ambitious objectives. Another forty percent involves facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery rather than engagement.
The final twenty percent is dedicated to morning kickoffs that set a daily tone where mediocrity has no place.
The trajectory here emphasizes depth over management. You begin by mastering Alpha''s methodology and earning student trust. Within months, you become the person they allow to push them beyond perceived limits. The reward is not upward mobility. It''s continuity: the same students, year after year, maturing with your guidance. It''s observing a student who avoided eye contact in September deliver a confident presentation to a room of adults in May.
This position remains focused on students. They are the mission, not a platform for career advancement. If your motivation for leaving your current role is the mission itself, not résumé building,
What You Will Be Doing
- Conducting 1-on-1 and small-group coaching sessions that leverage Coachbot analytics and student performance data to identify obstacles, establish ambitious objectives, and ensure accountability for execution
- Facilitating structured life-skills workshops focused on mastery, drawing on credible narratives from your own elite achievements, and evaluating mastery through Alpha''s Test2
Pass framework - Establishing the campus cultural standard each morning via focused kickoffs that reinforce expectations for high performance
- Monitoring student progress continuously and modifying coaching approaches based on data rather than intuition
- Cultivating trusted mentor relationships with students and their families through consistency, high standards, and documented motivation strategies
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Delivering lessons, creating curriculum, or grading work — Alpha''s AI-powered academic system manages instruction; your focus is motivation
- Presenting to a classroom of 30 students (your work is intensive coaching in small settings, not large-group teaching)
- Overseeing other staff or pursuing an administrative career path (this role centers on direct student impact, not organizational advancement)
- Attending faculty meetings or navigating institutional bureaucracy (your time remains concentrated on students)
- Compromising standards to meet metrics (if a student achieved 99%, your task is to determine what prevented 100%)
