Position: Adjunct Faculty, General Psychology - Roxbury Community College

Position Summary

In-person teaching assignments may include, but are not limited to, courses in the following areas:

  • Human Growth and Development
  • Adolescent Psychology

Classes are held on campus at 1234 Columbus Avenue, Roxbury Crossing.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Psychology Adjunct Faculty member will provide effective and high-quality instruction, assist students in mastering course content, and meet one:one sessions as needed. Faculty members are held to the same standards as full‑time faculty in assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining current knowledge in their teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics;

and assisting with curriculum development and program review as needed. This includes syllabi development and completion of course materials at designated deadlines.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • At least three semesters of experience teaching with Canvas Learning Management System.
  • Completed Canvas training to teach online.
  • Experience using Open Educational Resources (OER).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide diverse teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
  • Availability to teach in-person daytime classes, with possible evenings and weekends.
  • Experience teaching at a community college or a four‑year college/university.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including first‑generation learners and multilingual learners.

Preferred Qualifications (optional)

  • PhD preferred.
  • Experience working with students from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds who possess a wide range of academic abilities and interests.
  • Teaching experience at a community college.
