The School of Medical Imaging and Therapeutics(SMIT) seeks a full-time faculty member to deliver high quality learning experiences and education for students in the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - General.

The faculty member will engage in teaching and service activities, andworks collaboratively with colleagues across the University as well as with the Dean of SMIT and the Program Director of the DMS General program. Additionally, the incumbent provides mentorship to students and contributes to the visibility, impact and reputation of the University and its programs. The selected candidate will have responsibilities teaching classroom, lab, online and clinical courses to Undergraduate students.

Subject matters may include

Extended Abdominal, MSK, OB/GYN, Breast, Small parts and board review. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

  • Teach at least two to three class per semester or as determined by the program leadership
  • Deliver didactic, laboratory and/or experiential instruction via multiple formats (in-person, online, or in a ‘blended’ format) in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography General Program
  • Provide students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the School, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines and evaluation criteria
  • Provide engaging assignments that demonstrate the real-world applications of concepts covered
  • Participate in limited service activities that support the school and universities mission; represent the program and University in/at community functions; attend School and institutional activities such as Commencement, faculty meetings and awards ceremonies
  • Use the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students.
  • Advise and assist students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms.
  • Provide service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment.
  • Attend and participate in monthly School and Department meetings, University ceremonies, and other major events.
  • Contribute to periodic reviews and revisions of departmental course offerings.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge in discipline and areas of expertise.
  • Build and maintain relationships with professional organizations involved with the healthcare sector.
  • Assist in the development of community contacts, externship site set-up, and community involvement, student service learning and Interprofessional
  • Attend the Advisory Board meetings, at least once per
  • Maintain the continuity and relevance of the program curriculum
  • Assist the dean, program director and faculty with the maintenance of continued accreditation and annual reporting
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master is preferred
  • ARDMS certification in OB/GYN and extended abdominal required, others preferred
  • Minimum of5years of work experience inradiology general sonography and OB/GYN
  • Minimum of1year of teaching experience at the college/university level preferred but not essential
  • Commitment to undergraduate, graduate and/or professional education and student success
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents, including healthcare industry professionals)
  • Evidence of teaching experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Typical office or administrative working conditions. Faculty is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Work is primarily sedentary in nature; there are no special physical

  • Must be able to use technology, such as typing and manipulating a mouse/mouse pad
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
