Adjunct Faculty:
Sociology

Teach Principles of Sociology courses in the Department of Behavioral Sciences under the Behavioral, Social Sciences and Global Learning Division. Courses may include:

  • Principles of Sociology
  • Social Problems
  • Sociology of Race & Ethnicity
  • Sociology of Homosexuality
  • Sociology of Film
  • Cultural Anthropology
  • Physical Anthropology
  • Family
  • Urban Sociology
  • Sociology of Organizations
  • Criminology
  • Juvenile Delinquency.

Courses may be offered at any of the BHCC campuses, satellite campuses, partner sites, or instructional sites, including but not limited to Chelsea, Malden High School, Freedom House, and Chelsea High School.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Sociology or related field.
  • Evidence of engagement in culturally responsive pedagogies.
  • Experience with high impact teaching and learning practices (examples: undergraduate research, community engagement, critical pedagogies, learning communities).
  • Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population.
  • Must be available to teach at Chelsea, Malden High School, Freedom House, and Chelsea High School.
  • We are seeking faculty to teach one or more of the following courses:
    • Principles of Sociology
    • Social Problems
    • Sociology of Race & Ethnicity
    • Sociology of Homosexuality
    • Sociology of Film
    • Cultural Anthropology
    • Physical Anthropology
    • Family
    • Urban Sociology
    • Sociology of Organizations
    • Criminology
    • Juvenile Delinquency

Preferred Requirements:

  • Community college teaching experience preferred.
  • The ability to read, speak, and write in Spanish or other languages is preferred.

Additional Information:

Salary: $1,512 Per Credit Hour

Effective Date:
Fall 2026 semester
