Position: LecturerSenior Lecturer Lawyering Program Boston University School of Law

Position Overview

Boston University invites applications for two full‑time faculty positions at the rank of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in the School of Law for the 2027‑2028 academic year.

Responsibilities

The role is within the Lawyering Program, which provides intensive instruction in legal research, writing, analysis, client interviewing, oral advocacy, and transactional simulation. Each Lecturer teaches two sections of approximately 15–20 students, providing classroom instruction and individualized feedback on writing assignments, including conferences on major assignments. Each section is supported by a research librarian and three 2L or 3L Lawyering Fellows.

Additional responsibilities include attending program and faculty meetings, judging 1L moot court arguments, and performing faculty service to BU Law as assigned.

Contract and Benefits

Lecturers will receive an initial four‑year contract beginning on July 1, 2027, with voting rights on all academic matters. The appointment may lead to successive long‑term contracts and potential eligibility for a presumptively renewable contract.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a degree from an accredited law school, excellent writing and analytical skills, a strong academic record, and prior legal practice (including judicial clerkships). Experienced legal writing teachers or those seeking to enter the profession are encouraged to apply. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience.
