Overview

The Tufts University School of Medicine Office of Graduate Student Services oversees admissions, recruitment marketing, registration, career services, and student services for more than 1,000 students across the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Medical Science (MMS), and Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences (MBS) programs on the Boston Health Sciences campus.

This position follows a hybrid work arrangement and requires regular onsite presence two days per week. The role also includes regional and national recruitment travel, occasional overnight travel, and periodic evening and weekend commitments in support of admissions, recruitment, and student engagement activities.

What You’ll Do

As the Admissions Counselor for the Master of Public Health (MPH) programs, including dual and combined degree offerings, you will serve as a trusted guide throughout the applicant journey. You will own the prospective student experience from initial inquiry through completed application, building meaningful relationships and providing personalized support every step of the way. Through proactive outreach, admissions advising, and exceptional customer service, you will help prospective students navigate the application process and connect them with educational opportunities that can transform their careers and impact public health.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about relationship-building, enrollment success, and expanding access to high-quality graduate education.

Responsibilities include
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective MPH students from inquiry through completed application, delivering personalized guidance throughout the admissions process.
  • Engage prospective students through phone, email, text, and virtual outreach, including management of the Public Health Admissions inbox and complementary communications through Slate, to cultivate relationships and encourage application completion.
  • Advise applicants on admissions requirements, application components, deadlines, and program offerings, helping them make informed educational decisions.
  • Conduct virtual and in-person meetings with prospective students to assess their goals, discuss program fit, and provide an exceptional candidate experience.
  • Partner closely with the MPH admissions team to support enrollment goals across all stages of the admissions funnel, ensuring a seamless transition from application completion through review, decision, and enrollment.
  • Collaborate with faculty, program leaders, and staff to support recruitment initiatives and achieve annual enrollment objectives.
  • Represent Tufts University School of Medicine at virtual and in-person information sessions, open houses, recruitment fairs, admitted student events, and other outreach programs.
  • Travel regionally and nationally to recruit prospective students and promote graduate programs.
  • Review and screen applications, document applicant interactions in Slate, and maintain accurate admissions records and data.
  • Cross-train across additional graduate programs and provide support for recruitment activities, event participation, and coverage as needed.
  • Partner with marketing colleagues to enhance recruitment communications, website content, and admissions materials.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts through process documentation, market research, competitive analyses, and other special projects.
What We’re Looking For Basic Requirements

Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two or more years of experience in admissions, customer service, sales, or a related field, preferably in higher education.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of admissions and enrollment processes, including outreach, engagement, and conversion strategies.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills with the ability to effectively engage prospective students and build rapport with diverse audiences.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
