The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training and internal pay comparison. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations at the School serves as a key member of the Alumni Relations team, contributing to strategies that expand a culture of engagement, participation, and philanthropy for a diverse alumni and student population across MD, PhD and Master's programs. The primary responsibilities are to build lasting relationships and develop and manage strategies to encourage student and alumni participation (attendance and philanthropy) and recruit and steward volunteers.

The position works collaboratively with the School Development team, Boston University's central Alumni Relations, Communications and Engagement (ARCE) team, School leadership and various departments to strengthen connections between the School with alumni and students while advancing engagement and fundraising goals.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree with 3 years professional experience in alumni relations, higher education advancement or related donor/stakeholder engagement roles, 2+ years of management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience within an academic health professions educational setting preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple programs, prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
  • Proven experience in developing good working relationships up, down and across an organization, and in strong verbal and written communication with a broad range of audiences
  • Commitment to relationship building and stakeholder management
  • Event management, project coordination and demonstrated ability to effectively motivate, train and support colleagues and volunteers
  • Data analysis and reporting
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively on a team
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends and willingness to travel
  • Technical expertise in Microsoft Office and alumni database management
