Bridge Boston Charter School is a tuition-free, K1-8 public school serving 335 students in Roxbury, Massachusetts, and the surrounding community– many of whom have experienced social, emotional, and developmental barriers to learning. Bridge Boston's robust social-emotional program is designed with an eye to supporting students who have experienced trauma in their homes and communities.

The Position

Reporting to the Director of Extended Day, the Extended Group Leader will:

  • Work all days of the program
  • Occasionally supervise field trips
  • Responsible for ongoing communication with families and Extended Day Director
  • Participate in a pre-program orientation and post-program wrap-up
  • Independently create interactive, and engaging learning experiences
  • Work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 3pm-6:15pm
  • Enrichment planning
  • Support direct instruction to students individually, in small groups, and in classroom settings
  • Establish a productive learning environment and classroom culture in which all students are respected.
  • Understand and implement culturally and linguistically sustaining practices.
  • Assist with classroom management; enforce discipline code and assist with dismissal.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience with working with a diverse population of students, especially historically marginalized student groups, such as Black and brown students, students with disabilities, and English Language Learners.
  • Have a "self-starter" and team player attitude – working to address and resolve issues with a team focus
  • Effective communication skills with families, staff, and students
  • Adaptive, flexible, and resourceful problem solver
  • Customer-service orientation
  • Strong work ethic and sense of urgency
  • Detail-oriented and organized

Compensation

$32/hr
