Movement Matters Teaching Assistant
Movement Matters leaders will teach seated dance classes to retirement communities throughout the greater Boston area. Expected hours per week: 3-12. Expected dates and times of shifts:
Saturdays and Sundays.
Teach between 4 and 10 Movement Matters classes each semester.
Attend training workshops to learn new curriculum as needed.
Supervise volunteer teaching assistants who are assigned to class sessions.
Independently adjust/arrange schedules with other instructors if conflicts with assigned classes arise.
Regularly report via email on class sizes, volunteer attendance, and general impressions of class ambiance/success.
Must be a 3rd or 4th year Theater/Dance major.
Must complete a minimum of one semester as a volunteer teaching assistant for Movement Matters, or have relevant experience.
Must know the general structure of a seated movement class.
Demonstrate enthusiasm for the project, a solid understanding of the curricular goals, and both the commitment and maturity to independently teach classes while serving as an "ambassador" for the Conservatory in the wider Boston community.
Hourly rate: $16.97
