Roxbury Community College (RCC) is a public institution of higher education offering associate degrees, certificate programs and lifelong learning opportunities to the Greater Boston community. Position Summary

The Peer Wellness Mentor is a trained student leadership position focused on cultivating a culture of care, connection, and well-being tors serve as a non-clinical bridge to care by using their cohort training, campus knowledge, and peer perspective to support fellow students through active listening, resource navigation, community building, wellness programming, and appropriate referrals.

Co-facilitate approved affinity spaces, including Rise & Thrive, wellness workshops, and community-building activities.

Host assigned peer accountability or engagement hours to help students organize schedules, identify goals, and practice approved self-regulation strategies.

Practice active listening and provide non-clinical peer support within the defined scope of the role.

Warmly refer students to appropriate professional campus resources, including wellness, counseling, academic, basic-needs, and student-support services.

Conduct approved classroom visits, outreach, and wellness-resource promotion.

Assist with Wellness Center program administration, scheduling, data entry, materials, participation records, and routine office support.

Participate in required staff meetings, reflection, supervision, and professional development.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

Successful completion of the designated Wellness/Peer Wellness cohort prior to placement.

Currently enrolled RCC student in good standing and eligible for the approved Federal Work-Study placement.

Strong verbal communication, empathy, active-listening, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and appropriate discretion.

Ability to work collaboratively with students and staff from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Demonstrated readiness to provide non-clinical peer support and resource navigation within the established scope of practice.

Required Training

Trauma-informed practices/care training as designated by the Wellness Center.

Mental Health First Aid/Ambassadorship or other designated wellness training.

Student privacy and FERPA-related training applicable to assigned duties.

Resource navigation, professional boundaries, safety escalation, and mandated-reporting training.
