Roxbury Community College (RCC) is a public institution of higher education offering associate degrees, certificate programs and lifelong learning opportunities to the Greater Boston community. Position Summary

The Athletics Game Day Student Assistant is an entry-level student employment position that supports Roxbury Community College home athletic events and day-to-day Athletics operations. Students assist with game-day preparation, event operations, scoreboard and game-clock functions, setup and breakdown, and other assigned Athletics support activities.

  • Assist with weekday, on-campus preparation of signs, tables, seating areas, materials, and approved game-day spaces.
  • Organize and distribute approved event materials and supplies under Athletics staff direction.
  • Assist with basic check-in, attendance, and routine administrative support for on-campus events.
  • Support post-event collection, organization, and storage of materials.
  • Report facility, equipment, crowd, or safety concerns to Athletics/Reggie Lewis staff.
  • FWS duties do not include off-campus events, independent game operations, officiating, or Learn & Earn experiential assignments.
Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled at Roxbury Community College for the  academic year.
  • Have an active Federal Work-Study award and sufficient remaining FWS eligibility before beginning work.
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in accordance with institutional and financial-aid requirements.
  • Complete all required student-employment and payroll documentation before beginning work.
  • Work only the approved FWS schedule and duties assigned by the designated RCC supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled at RCC and meet the eligibility requirements for the assigned student employment funding source.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask in an active event environment.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality for assigned shifts.
  • Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with Athletics staff and other student employees.
  • Ability to lift and move at least 10 pounds as required for assigned event-support tasks.
  • Professional conduct and willingness to learn game-day procedures and equipment.

Federal Work-Study Compliance Notes

  • This FWS assignment is part-time, on-campus student employment and is contingent upon continued Federal Work-Study eligibility and available award funding.
  • FWS students may perform only the duties identified for the FWS assignment and approved by the supervisor;
    Learn & Earn responsibilities are not interchangeable with FWS duties.
  • Students and supervisors are responsible for monitoring scheduled hours so the student does not exceed the approved FWS award or institutional work-hour limits.
