Roxbury Community College (RCC) is a public institution of higher education offering associate degrees, certificate programs and lifelong learning opportunities to the Greater Boston community. Position Summary

The Project Access Peer Mentor is an intermediate-level student leadership position within Project Access. The Peer Mentor helps RCC students connect with resources, support, and community by providing trained peer-to-peer support, sharing approved information, and helping students navigate non-academic barriers that may affect their college experience. The role supports peer check-ins, Project Access programming, Rox Box activities, outreach, and warm referrals while maintaining clear boundaries between peer support and professional case management.

Learn & Earn Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one peer support and check-ins through active listening, encouragement, and connection to appropriate resources.

Share accurate information about Project Access services and approved campus and community resources, and make warm referrals to Project Access staff when professional assistance is required.

Assist with day-to-day Rox Box activities, including welcoming students, organizing and stocking supplies, sharing pantry information, and supporting an accessible and respectful student experience.

Conduct classroom visits, tabling, campus outreach, and event participation to promote Project Access, the Rox Box, and other available student resources.

Assist with Project Access workshops, orientations, outreach campaigns, events, and other student-engagement activities.

Support routine program operations by preparing materials, organizing resources, tracking attendance, assisting with scheduling, and completing basic data entry as assigned.

Participate in required staff meetings, supervision, training, and professional development.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

Currently enrolled RCC student in good standing and eligible for Learn & Earn.

Strong interpersonal, communication, empathy, and active-listening skills.

Interest in peer mentorship, student support, basic-needs access, community engagement, or student success.

Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and appropriate discretion when interacting with peers.

Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with students and staff from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Familiarity with RCC services or willingness to learn available student-support and basic-needs resources.
