Job Description Summary
The Borescope technician is responsible for conducting or directing critical inspections and providing accurate and concise interpretation of results on gas, steam turbines, and generators utilizing remote inspection systems. These inspections are carried out at fossil and nuclear power stations worldwide. Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines.
Job Description Essential Functions (Responsibilities)The Remote Visual Inspection (Borescope Technician) main responsibility is to perform limited access inspections of gas or steam turbines and generators. These inspections are carried out at power generation locations worldwide.
Staying abreast of new technologies and test procedures within the assigned organization and continually expand inspection qualifications.
Timely with inspection report creation, time card submittals, expense reconciliation, training requirements, and other business related tasks.
This position is based out of the USA remotely to support work in the USA, or abroad. This person must be a US citizen, or legal resident of USA, that can travel in and out of the USA to participate in training and work globally.
Qualifications/Requirements- An AAS Degree or equivalent vocational training in an mechanical or non-destructive inspection technology or minimum 3 years of borescope, preferably on heavy duty gas turbines.
- All GE frames, including GT13, GT24, and GT26 gas turbine borescope experience preferred
- Experience using menu driven inspection applications (MDI)
- 7FA Quaternary Annulus Cleaning Qualified
- Willingness and ability to travel globally on short notice, and for extended periods of time.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to rent vehicles to support inspection needs.
- Possess or able to obtain a passport for international travel
- Knowledge of design, construction, and maintenance of steam or combustion turbines/generators used in power generation applications.
- Familiar with operating Mentor Visual iQ Videoprobe, Menu Directed Inspection software.
- Experience in a customer service focused organization.
- Strong customer service communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Work independently, safely and effectively with minimal direction and supervision in a procedure driven environment.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

- GE Inspection & Life Extension Services is looking for a highly motivated individual to acquire, assemble and process inspection data for inspection performed on gas and steam turbines, and generators used in the power generation industry.
- This position requires an individual with excellent communication (written and oral), planning and technical skills and ability to work independently.
- This position requires overtime/weekend/off-hours and very frequent domestic and international travelling.
- Must be able to mobilize within 2 hours; must live near major airport
