- Uptower Repair
The Field Specialist
- Uptower Repair will work on a team or individually to complete maintenance, large component replacement, troubleshoot mechanical and/or electrical repairs, oversee contractors, and repair wind turbine generators throughout the United States.
- Support team objectives and remain focused on safety, quality, and execution
- Support Field Engineers and Lead Field Specialists
- Complete required training to advance in Up Tower Qualifications standards
- Participate in pre‑job meetings to discuss lift plans, LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out), schedule, weather, hazards, and job site / landowner requirements
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch/variable speed turbines
- Help in all areas of site preparation (coordination of labor and materials) with minimal supervision
- Document all work performed using computer‑based service reporting procedures
- Communicate site status to engineering, customers, and management
- High School Diploma / GED
- Minimum 1 year as a Wind Turbine Technician or completion of a Certificate/Associate's/Bachelor's Degree in a related field (electrical, mechanical, renewable energy)
- Minimum 2 years of related experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, or renewable energy
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 90% of the time
- Maintain a valid driver’s license
- Lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and meet OSHA weight limits of 250‑300 lbs
- Climb towers up to 300 feet
- Work in all weather conditions
- Read and interpret electrical schematic drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
- Perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure
- Work in industrial, manufacturing, or power industry facilities
- Be available for 24/7 rotation shift schedules
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical, electrical, or electronics field
- Technical certification in wind energy or electrical/electronic field
- Experience working with a variety of personnel at all levels within a wind farm
- Wind turbine experience
- Initiative and ability to work without direct supervision
- Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience
- Experience with hydraulic power tools
- Knowledge of heavy equipment, crane and rigging requirements
Base pay range: $25.96 – $48.15 per hour, influenced by experience, education, and skill set. Eligible for Per Diem. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, prescription drug coverage;
