SENIOR SPECIALIST, INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE, Research Compliance

The Industrial Hygiene Senior Specialist position is part of the Industrial Hygiene Division of OEHS. This position reports to the Associate Director of Industrial Hygiene and primarily executes assessments, inspections and other tasks related to the industrial hygiene programs at Boston University (BU) and Boston Medical Center (BMC). It is primarily based at the Medical Campus but is flexible across all areas served by OEHS.

• Support the industrial hygiene program through assessment of hazards due to physical, chemical and biological exposures in the workplace.
• Conduct assessments, inspections and other tasks related to the industrial hygiene programs at BU and BMC.
• Respond to emergencies on campus during off hours, including weekends and holidays as part of the on‑call emergency response team.

• B.A./B.S. in a related field and at least three years of industrial hygiene experience, preferably in an academic research or health care setting.
• Ability to obtain the 24 or 40‑hour OSHA hazardous waste operations and emergency response training.
• Successful completion of a pre‑placement physical.
