SENIOR SPECIALIST, INDUSTRIAL HYGIEN E, Research Compliance Job Description

The Industrial Hygiene Senior Specialist position is part of the Industrial Hygiene Division of OEHS. This position reports to the Associate Director Industrial Hygiene and is primarily executing assessments, inspections and other tasks related to the industrial hygiene programs at Boston University (BU) and Boston Medical Center (BMC). The position is primarily based on the Medical Campus while remaining flexible in assignments across all areas and departments served by OEHS.

The specific duties include support the industrial hygiene program through the assessment of hazards due to possible physical, chemical, and biological exposures in the workplace.

• Execute assessments and inspections related to industrial hygiene programs at BU and BMC.
• Perform hazard assessments of physical, chemical, and biological exposures in the workplace.
• Respond to emergencies on campus during off hours including weekends and holidays as part of the on‑call emergency response team.

• B.A./B.S. in a related field and at least three years of industrial hygiene experience, preferably in an academic research or health care setting.
• Ability to respond to emergencies on campus during off hours, including weekends and holidays as part of the on‑call emergency response team.
• Should have or be able to obtain the 24 or 40‑hour OSHA hazardous waste operations and emergency response training.
• Successful completion of a pre‑placement physical.
