The Industrial Hygiene Senior Specialist position is part of the Industrial Hygiene Division of OEHS. This position reports to the Associate Director of Industrial Hygiene and is primarily executing assessments, inspections and other tasks related to the industrial hygiene programs at Boston University (BU) and Boston Medical Center (BMC). The position is primarily based on the Medical Campus while remaining flexible in assignments across all areas and departments served by OEHS.
Responsibilities- Perform assessments and inspections related to industrial hygiene programs at BU and BMC.
- Support the industrial hygiene program through assessment of hazards due to possible physical, chemical, and biological exposures in the workplace.
- Maintain flexibility across all areas and departments served by OEHS.
- B.A./B.S. in a related field.
- At least three years of industrial hygiene experience, preferably in an academic research or health care setting.
- Ability to respond to emergencies on campus during off hours, including weekends and holidays, as part of the on-call emergency response team.
- Completion or ability to obtain 24- or 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training.
- Successful completion of a pre-placement physical.
