We are seeking a Hardware Technician to support our hardware engineering team through prototype fabrication, testing, and lab operations as we launch our next-generation sensor platform. What will you do?
Core Responsibilities and Key Performance Objectives
  • Fabricate, assemble, and test prototype electrical and mechanical assemblies for Line Vision's transmission line monitoring sensors
  • Perform hardware validation testing and quality assurance on sensor technologies and systems.
  • Troubleshoot electromechanical assemblies and network connectivity issues using oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and other test equipment
  • Build and maintain test fixtures and programming stations for internal use and contract manufacturer locations
  • Manage lab operations, equipment calibration, inventory tracking, and Bill of Materials documentation
Within the first 3 months:
  • Master Line Vision's current sensor hardware architecture and become proficient in assembly/testing procedures for our new platform
  • Support the manufacturing of our transmission line monitoring devices. This includes supporting and updating the procedures for building, testing, QA inspecting, and troubleshooting these devices.
  • Identify and resolve hardware issues independently, proposing design improvements based on testing insights
Within the first 6 months:
  • Support the transition of new hardware designs from prototype to manufacturing, ensuring quality standards are maintained.
  • Support field testing of our transmission line monitoring devices for the purposes of data collection, research and development. This would include working with the teams field testing to help design, equipment procuring, staging, on-site setup, maintenance, and take-down of field tests.
Within the first year:
  • Own laboratory operations, including equipment management, maintenance schedules, and space optimization
  • Drive continuous improvement in quality control processes based on field feedback and testing data
  • Be a subject matter expert on fabrication techniques, testing methodologies, and troubleshooting approaches

Essential Skills
  • Hands-on fabrication skills with electromechanical assemblies using hand tools and basic shop equipment (bandsaw, drill press, etc.)
  • Mechanical CAD software such as Solid Works (preferred), AutoCAD, or Fusion
    360.
  • Meticulous documentation practices for tracking Bills of Materials, prototype units, test results, and change orders
  • Willingness to be flexible to assist in all engineering activities when needed
  • Reliable personal transportation (vehicle required) - Must have own vehicle for occasional travel to contract manufacturer facilities, customer demo sites, and equipment pickup/delivery
What Sets the Best Candidates Apart
  • Associate degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electronics, or a technical field; military technical training; or vocational school certification
  • 2+ years of experience in hardware assembly, testing, or engineering lab support roles
  • Experience supporting new product introductions or design-for-manufacturing transitions
  • Proven ability to work independently while knowing when to elevate complex issues
