Overview
As a Senior Embedded Control Engineer
, you will design firmware for power electronics systems (typically 3-30 kW) used in advanced industrial applications involving plasma generation and reactive gas processes. You tackle complex engineering challenges that require creativity, analysis, and innovative problem‑solving.
This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with scientists and multidisciplinary engineering teams exploring control mechanisms, power systems, and material interactions.
Your Day-to-Day ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership
- Lead the development of DSPbased digital control for power electronics projects that involve cross‑functional engineering teams.
- Drive the design and integration of inter-system communication among system‑level components.
Control Systems & Firmware
- Perform engineering analysis and implement advanced control algorithms for power converters, RF systems, and microwave systems.
- Develop, execute, and document Design Verification Test (DVT) plans; evaluate results and recommend optimal engineering tradeoffs.
Documentation & Lifecycle Management
- Create, maintain, and archive all necessary firmware development documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
- Work closely with power electronics engineers to integrate firmware and hardware.
- Participate in cross-functional teams supporting new product development involving power electronics for plasma‑generation applications

Required:
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of applicable experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years of experience.
- Proven experience delivering DSPbased firmware from concept through product launch, using C/C++ and/or MATLAB/Simulink
. - Hardware development experience
, preferably using Altium or PADS for PCB design. - Experience programming
DSPs for: - Buck or boost converters
- Single-phase or three-phase power factor correction (PFC)
- Familiarity with common power electronics topologies and associated digital control techniques
.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with version control systems
. - Experience developing graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for hardware testing.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to simplify and explain complex technical systems.
- Exposure to capital equipment
, especially those used in semiconductor or plasma‑related applications. - Ability to use common lab tools such as oscilloscopes and power meters.
