Service Technician – Boston, MA
GETNA Service Technicians provide field service support on complex electro-mechanical systems in more than 26 national locations. They perform installations, training and assist with software integration. This is a high-visibility, customer-centric role that delivers consistent, high-level, all-around service and attention to customers.
Security and CitizenshipCandidate must be a U.S. Citizen. This is a mandatory requirement for this position. All offers of employment are contingent upon eligibility to obtain and maintain a government security clearance sponsored by GETNA. Having an active security clearance is a plus. Security clearance is not required prior to applying; GETNA will begin the security clearance process once the right candidate is selected.
If unfamiliar with the security clearance process, our Security Team will walk the selected candidate through the process.
- Install, maintain, and support all equipment maintenance efforts, conforming to customer Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements.
- Respond in a timely manner to all maintenance calls. Document each maintenance action with time, labor, meters, resolution notes and parts used.
- Maintain accurate on-site service inventory at assigned Boston facilities.
- Assist Operators and System Admins to troubleshoot issues and provide actionable steps to resolve problems.
- Maximize the use of hardware and software by training users; interpreting instructions; answering questions; providing feedback.
- Contribute ideas to improving operating instructions for end users, collaborating in a Work Group setting.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Other assignments as requested by Management.
- Proof of U.S. citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of State Security Clearance prior to starting work.
- Up to 25% travel for backup coverage nationally or for training requirements.
- CompTIA A+ certification or other relative technical certifications.
- 2 year Associate’s degree in a technical or diagnostic field.
- 4 year Bachelor of Science degree in a technical discipline (preferred).
Please note:
Equivalent professional experience will be considered if academic qualifications are not available.
- 1 year of experience in a support role and/or Help Desk (2+ years preferred).
- 2-4 years of electro-mechanical experience in a hands-on technical environment (5+ years preferred).
- Familiarity with electro-mechanical devices and automation equipment.
- Solid working knowledge of thermal printing or laser printers is an asset.
- Good troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams and competence in disassembling and reassembling complex mechanical devices.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment without direct supervision.
- Proficient with MS Office applications.
- Excellent communication skills.
