Senior Project Engineer – Capital Projects (GMP & Utilities)
We’re supporting a well-established engineering and project delivery business that works at the heart of regulated manufacturing environments. This is a hands-on Senior Project Engineer role for someone who enjoys execution, ownership, and wants to grow into broader project management responsibility.
This position would suit a Project Engineer or early-career PM who wants more exposure, accountability, and a clear development path.
The Role
As a Senior Project Engineer, you’ll support and lead a portfolio of capital projects across GMP and non-GMP environments, with a strong focus on utilities, commissioning, and startup activities.
You’ll be trusted with real responsibility from day one, while being supported by experienced Project Managers as you grow.
Key responsibilities include:
- Executing and leading multiple small to mid-scale capital projects
- Managing a portfolio of projects ranging from $50k to $500k
- Delivering GMP and non-GMP utility projects, including mechanical, electrical, and process utilities
- Supporting commissioning, qualification, and startup (CX) activities
- Developing and executing commissioning and test plans
- Coordinating contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Providing technical input and problem-solving throughout project execution
There is also scope, if of interest, to support early-phase project development, including feasibility studies, scope definition, and project identification.
About You
We’re open on years of experience, this is about capability, mindset, and technical grounding rather than a rigid title.
- A Project Engineer ready to step up
- An engineer who wants to transition into full project management
- A technically strong individual who enjoys delivery and ownership
Ideal background:
- Engineering or technical degree (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working on capital projects in GMP and/or regulated environments
- Strong exposure to utilities projects
- Comfortable in the field, working through construction, commissioning, and startup
- Organised, proactive, and keen to learn
- Confident communicating with contractors and stakeholders
Attitude matters just as much as experience, curiosity, accountability, and a genuine desire to grow are key.
Why Consider This Role?
- Exposure to the full project lifecycle, not just one phase
- Strong technical environment with varied, interesting projects
- Supportive culture that invests in people and progression
If you’re a strong engineer who wants more responsibility, visibility, and a real pathway forward, this is a role worth exploring.
