Salary: $50-$65/hour + 1.5× Paid Overtime (20-40 additional hours/week) + Per Diem + Annual Bonus

Our client in the power solutions and electrical infrastructure industry is seeking a Power Transformer Testing Specialist to join their field service team. In this role, you will own transformer diagnostic testing in the field, collecting and analyzing data to assess transformer condition across medium voltage, high voltage, EHV, and UHV assets. The ideal candidate is a transformer testing SME with hands‑on experience executing tests, interpreting results, and drawing accurate conclusions in field environments.
To be successful, you must be highly analytical, technically strong, and comfortable with extensive travel. This position offers long‑term stability, significant paid overtime, and strong earning potential while supporting critical power infrastructure projects.
- Perform medium, high voltage, EHV, and UHV transformer testing in field environments
- Serve as the field subject matter expert for transformer testing activities
- Execute and interpret a full range of transformer tests in accordance with IEEE C57 standards
- Operate transformer testing equipment to collect accurate electrical and diagnostic data
- Analyze test results to assess transformer condition and identify abnormalities or failure modes
- Diagnose transformer issues based on field data and support corrective action
- Perform commissioning, acceptance testing, and troubleshooting for power transformers
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and OEM manuals to support testing
- Document test procedures, results, and findings in detailed and accurate field reports
- Communicate technical findings and diagnoses to internal engineering teams and customers
- Mentor junior technicians and support training on transformer testing methods
- Follow established safety practices while working around energized and high‑voltage equipment
- 5+ years of performing medium to high voltage transformer testing required, EHV & UHV a plus
- Proven ability to execute and interpret a broad range of transformer diagnostic tests is required
- Strong working knowledge of IEEE C57 transformer testing standards is required
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills are required
- Valid driver’s license is required
- Ability to travel ~75% of the time to US project sites is required
