Engineer/Principal Engineer, Civil Engineering

VP Engineering and Construction

Boston, New York City, and Denver Flatiron Energy offices or regions, including PJM Mid Atlantic, preferred. Remote also considered.

Responsible for developing grid scale standalone energy storage projects in target markets.

• Lead civil engineering of projects, including sourcing and selecting of key contractors
• Lead identification of local, state and/or federal permits pertaining to siting and setbacks
• Generating site layouts for multiple BESS technology options based on OEM documentation and local requirements
• Support development activities in early, mid, and late stages of the project
• Support acquisition of civil-related local, state, and/or federal permits as required
• Generation, review, and possible stamping of drawings as applicable
• Preferred: GIS mapping for prospective site screening and constraint mapping
• Preferred: 3D model reviews of BESS equipment

• Minimum of 5 (five years) of experience in project development preferably renewables and battery energy storage (BESS)
• Development experience in PJM, NYISO, and/or ISO-NE
• Successful track record of developing projects from inception through COD
• Strong problem-solving skills, ability to self-direct, flexibility, creativity, desire to grow into additional responsibilities
• Superior verbal and written communication skills and high level of attention to detail

  Ability to work in the United States is a requirement. Prefer candidate to be based in the Mid Atlantic, New England or New York, however, location of workplace is flexible provided candidate is able to travel as required.
