Job Description & How to Apply Below

PCB Layout Engineer – Rigid‑Flex / HDI | Full‑Time | Waltham, MA (Hybrid) Company Overview

Bounce Imaging designs and manufactures advanced 360° camera systems used by defense, law enforcement, and first responder teams around the world. Our products combine ruggedized hardware, custom electronics, and intelligent software to provide real‑time situational awareness in the most demanding environments.

We are growing rapidly and seeking an experienced PCB Layout Engineer to join our hardware engineering team. This is a full‑time, hybrid position based at our Waltham, MA office (880 Main Street) with flexibility for work‑from‑home as needed and occasional visits to our local PCB assembly partner in Haverhill
.

Position Overview

This role is ideal for a true PCB layout expert
—not just a general electrical engineer who occasionally does layout work. You’ll own the layout process for our high‑density, multi‑board systems and collaborate closely with our EE team to design, optimize, and audit boards for manufacturability and performance.

Our systems incorporate multi‑layer, rigid‑flex, and HDI designs with 0201‑size components and fine‑pitch BGAs, requiring a meticulous eye for detail and extensive experience working in tight layouts. You’ll play a key role in shaping the next generation of our tactical camera platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Own PCB layout for new designs from schematic handoff through fabrication and assembly.
  • Audit and improve existing board layouts for manufacturability, thermal management, and signal integrity.
  • Design and manage multi‑layer stackups including HDI and rigid‑flex architectures
    .
  • Implement proper design rules for impedance control, differential pair routing, and length matching for high‑speed signals.
  • Optimize component placement and routing for mechanical, electrical, and manufacturability constraints.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and PCB fabricators to validate stackups and manufacturing tolerances.
  • Generate all necessary manufacturing documentation (Gerbers, ODB++, fab notes, assembly drawings).
  • Review DRCs, DFM, and DFT feedback and iterate designs accordingly.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of professional PCB layout experience
, preferably in complex, high‑reliability electronics.
  • Deep proficiency with Altium Designer
    .
  • Demonstrated experience designing rigid‑flex and HDI boards (microvias, stacked/staggered vias, via‑in‑pad, etc.).
  • Proven ability to design with fine‑pitch components (down to 0.4 mm BGA, 0201 passives).
  • Strong understanding of impedance control
    , signal integrity
    , and crosstalk mitigation
    .
  • Familiarity with power integrity principles, grounding schemes, and decoupling strategies.
  • Experience collaborating directly with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors to optimize DFM and yield.
  • Working knowledge of IPC standards (e.g. IPC-2221, IPC-7351).
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent designs and balance short‑term deliverables with long‑term improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with high‑speed digital or mixed‑signal designs (DDR, USB, Ethernet, etc.).
  • Knowledge of thermal design considerations for compact, ruggedized products.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling integration (MCAD/ECAD) workflows.
  • Experience designing for military, aerospace, or mission‑critical applications
    .
Why Join Bounce Imaging

At Bounce Imaging, you’ll work on technology that quite literally helps save lives
. Our products are used daily by tactical teams, first responders, and military units around the world. You’ll join a small, collaborative team of engineers who value precision, innovation, and impact—and you’ll see your designs move from layout to the field in months, not years.

If you’re passionate about advanced PCB layout and want to apply your expertise to a mission that matters, we’d love to hear from you.
