Job Description
Our client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to play a key role in the buildout and evolution of a modern, cloud‑based data platform supporting enterprise analytics and reporting. The role sits within a growing engineering organization responsible for designing, building, and scaling data infrastructure used across the business.
About the PositionThis position offers the opportunity to contribute to a high‑impact, enterprise data initiative where engineering work directly supports decision‑making and operational efficiency. The team is focused on transforming complex, distributed data into reliable, application‑ready assets. You will work closely with other engineers and business stakeholders, gain exposure to large‑scale data systems, and help shape long‑term platform architecture and best practices.
This is a hybrid role in Boston, MA.
Required Skills & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational database design and optimization
- Hands‑on experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines
- Solid understanding of data modeling, data quality, and governance concepts
- Proficiency in Python and at least one additional modern programming language
- Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Familiarity with modern data warehousing or lakehouse technologies
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Experience working with enterprise‑scale data platforms
- Exposure to metadata‑driven or ontology‑based data modeling approaches
- Familiarity with real‑time or streaming data technologies
- Experience supporting analytics, reporting, or downstream data consumers
- Knowledge of data visualization or BI tools
- Exposure to machine learning data preparation or workflows
- Experience working with global or multi‑region data systems
- Background mentoring junior engineers or contributing to engineering standards
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and processing systems
- Automate and improve data workflows for reliability and efficiency
- Optimize database performance to support analytics and reporting use cases
- Design and implement data storage solutions including warehouses and data lakes
- Monitor and support data infrastructure for performance and stability
- Implement data validation and quality controls
- Contribute to data governance and compliance initiatives
- Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and stakeholders across the organization
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members
- Evaluate and recommend new data tools and technologies
