AECOM is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Mechanical Engineering Discipline Lead / Engineering Manager to help grow and lead our building engineering practice in Boston. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for someone who thrives on building high-performing teams across multiple locations, fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration, shaping strategy, and making a real impact on innovative, multidisciplinary projects. Key to this role will be guiding the appropriate integration of AI into practice.
You’ll take the lead on major pursuits, manage and expand a talented engineering team, and work directly with high-profile clients — including major U.S. airport and transportation authorities, research/science, higher education clients and federal agencies. - Lead and manage AECOM’s building
engineering operations
in Boston
, with an emphasis on team growth and performance. - Oversee and grow the Mechanical (HVAC) department
, including mentoring staff and managing project delivery. - Develop and execute a strategy to add electrical and plumbing engineering staff to build a thriving local MEP team.
- Drive major project pursuits — both stand-alone MEP/FP work and as part of larger multi-discipline teams.
- Collaborate with other AECOM offices and business lines to optimize project staffing and delivery.
- Oversee HVAC design across a range of project sizes and complexities.
- Act as technical leader and quality reviewer
, ensuring consistent, high-caliber output. - Serve as design manager on complex projects with significant engineering scope working closely with project managers to deliver high quality documents.
- Lead interdisciplinary coordination/quality reviews and ensure engineering standards are met.
- Guide team members in their work, assigning tasks and supporting their professional development.
- Manage forecasting, resource planning, and staff performance, including goal-setting and annual reviews for mechanical department. Assist the electrical department manager to do the same.
