Project Manager – Town of Natick
The Town of Natick Department of Facilities Management (DFM) has an opening for a Project Manager to lead planning and implementation of the 5‑year capital improvement plan and other town projects.
Responsibilities- Oversee all aspects of project management from inception through design and construction, ensuring life‑cycle costs, long‑term maintenance and sustainability.
- Work with consultants and stakeholders to develop design and construction documents and administer work related construction activities, including cost control and quality assurance.
- Maintain customer satisfaction with quality communications to department heads, principals, senior leadership and project partners.
- Manage construction and renovation projects, adhering to town authorizations and Massachusetts public procurement laws.
- Ensure that construction and renovation activities are carried out according to specifications, schedules and budgets.
- Manage contracts with design and engineering professionals; monitor design scopes of work and payments; assess contractor payments for suitability to the level of work performed.
- Prepare requests for quotations, project scope and bid specifications for repair and maintenance of buildings and related equipment for public bidding projects.
- Plan project work with life‑cycle costs, long‑term maintenance and repair, sustainability and other longer‑term impacts considered.
- Provide technical review and input for structural and mechanical systems.
- May be required to be available after hours for an emergency call rotation with other facilities staff.
- Manage vendors and may direct other facilities staff regarding projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture or a similar field.
- Minimum of five years’ experience managing building projects in the public sector.
- Must be a Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official (MCCPO) or be able to obtain certification within 12 months of appointment.
- Excellent organizational skills and clear communication in writing and verbally.
- Knowledge of building construction, physical plant operations, MEP systems, and safety precautions such as OSHA.
- Working knowledge of state procurement laws and regulations (Chapters 30b, 149, 30, 39M) and BMS operation.
- Valid Class D motor vehicle driver’s license.
