- Hours Per Week: 40 (6:00am-2:30pm)
- Pay Range: $50-$60 per hour
- Probation Period: 90 Days
- The Base Building Facilities Engineer is responsible for operating, maintaining, and optimizing core building systems that support life science and laboratory environments. This role ensures that critical infrastructure including HVAC, utilities, controls, and life-safety systems performs reliably to meet stringent environmental, regulatory, and research requirements.
- Oversee daily operation of base-building systems including:
Air handling units (AHUs);
Exhaust and supply fans;
Chilled water & hot water systems;
Boilers and steam systems;
Building automation systems (BAS/BMS);
Emergency power, UPS, and electrical distribution. - Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting. Maintain proper temperature, humidity, pressure relationships, and air exchange rates.
- Coordinate work with contractors, TAB firms, controls integrators, and OEM service providers. Provide technical oversight for repairs, retrofits, shutdowns, utility outages, and upgrades.
- Support capital project planning, design review, and commissioning of new equipment or infrastructure.
- Perform BAS point checks, troubleshooting, trend analysis, and optimization. Work with controls teams to adjust sequences, alarms, and energy‑efficiency settings. Maintain alarm response procedures and support root‑cause investigations.
- Respond to building alarms, power events, utility failures, and critical equipment issues. Participate in on‑call rotations to support 24/7 operations.
3–7 years experience in facilities engineering, building operations, or HVAC/controls, ideally in life science or laboratory environments.
Required Skills- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) systems and BAS/BMS platforms.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs, one‑line diagrams, and specifications.
- Experience supporting labs, clean rooms, fume hoods, or regulated environments.
