OpportunityStantec is seeking a structural engineer specializing in marine and waterfront design to support our transportation practice in New England. The selected candidate must be able to manage and technically lead teams in the design and construction administration of complex waterfront projects for public and private sector clients throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities- Perform structural marine and waterfront engineering assignments that are broad and varied in nature, requiring sound application of technical codes, standards, and guidelines.
- Perform and oversee engineering planning and design assignments at key stages of projects.
- Analyze complex problems, modify methods, procedures, and processes, and propose new alternative solutions.
- Prepare and coordinate project deliverables including contract documents.
- Review and seal contract deliverables.
- Perform independent technical and quality reviews.
- Exercise initiative and independent judgment in adapting and applying procedures to address unusual situations and resolve issues.
- Ensure Stantec’s engineering and design procedures and guidelines are consistently and correctly applied on projects, with an eye toward continuous improvement.
- Consistently execute safe work practices and work plans while completing field and office work.
- Highly skilled in technical and functional aspects of the role.
- Proven ability in staff supervision and leadership; experience directly managing others is required.
- Demonstrates strong collaboration, facilitation, and teamwork skills.
- Possesses strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel frequently within the New England area as required (estimated travel: 25%).
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in one New England state with ability to obtain licensure in other states within 6 months of employment as needed.
- Experience with engineering design tools such as MathCAD, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, BIM, Microsoft Project, and structural software such as CSiBridge, Shoring Suite, and Optimoor.
- Prior experience with U.S. federal agency engineering and construction projects (NAVFAC, USACE, AFCEE, etc.) or similar port and marine transportation entities is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university.
- Minimum of five years of relevant structural marine and waterfront structures experience.
