Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical design and coordination for commercial and institutional building projects. The successful candidate will deliver safe, code-compliant, and energy-efficient electrical systems from concept through construction, provide technical leadership to project teams, and serve as a primary point of contact for clients and contractors. This role emphasizes power distribution, lighting design, short-circuit and coordination studies, and BIM-based workflows using Revit.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design and documentation for projects, including power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, grounding, and system protection.
- Prepare and review electrical calculations: load analysis, short-circuit studies, protective device coordination, voltage drop, and fault current analysis.
- Develop lighting layouts and perform lighting calculations to meet code, energy, and performance requirements; prepare COMcheck energy compliance submissions where applicable.
- Create and maintain Revit-based electrical models and coordinate with architectural, mechanical, and structural disciplines to resolve clashes and integrate systems.
- Produce specifications, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, riser diagrams, and O&M documentation.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and drafters; review work for quality and compliance with standards.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction throughout design and construction phases; respond to RFIs and support construction administration.
- Perform constructability reviews, site visits, and commission electrical systems to ensure installation matches design intent.
- Manage multiple projects, budgets, and schedules while maintaining high-quality deliverables and meeting client expectations.
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related field;
Masters degree preferred. - Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
- Minimum 8+ years of progressive electrical design experience, preferably in building systems for commercial, healthcare, education, or institutional projects.
- Proven experience with Revit for electrical BIM modeling and documentation.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems including short-circuit analysis, protective device coordination, voltage drop calculations, grounding, and switch gear.
- Experience with COMcheck or equivalent energy code compliance tools and familiarity with local and national electrical codes (NEC).
- Lighting design experience, including luminaires selection, controls, calculations, and photometric analysis.
- Proficiency with electrical calculation and analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, Easy Power) and CAD tools.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and client-facing skills; demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects and priorities under tight deadlines.
- Health/Dental/Vision
