Job Overview
Vertex Lab Space Planning Co‑op program is a 6‑month experiential training program for students pursuing an undergraduate degree in Facilities Management, Architecture or related fields. The co‑op supports lab space planning activities, including equipment placement, lab reconfigurations, and large‑scale moves in the new building.
Responsibilities- Evaluate and provide solutions for lab space requests such as adding equipment, shelving, benches, or rearranging labs.
- Assist with large‑scale lab move into the new building, confirming current locations of lab equipment and supporting planning activities.
- Support day‑to‑day lab space requests: new equipment, layouts, moves, case‑work changes and update master architectural drawings.
- Interface with teams:
Lab Space Planning, Workplace Services, Instrumentation Engineering, EHS, Lab Operations, Engineering Documentation, PMO, Move Consultants and scientific end users.
- Enrolled in an undergraduate program in Facilities Management, Architecture or related field.
- Excellent communication, coordination and project‑management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Bluebeam preferred.
- Capacity to work full‑time onsite in Boston, MA and legal authorization to work in the U.S. now and in the future.
- Must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before December 2026.
- Must be available to work 40 hours per week from July–December 2026.
