A cutting-edge robotics and automation company in the Greater Boston area is hiring a full-time Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced electrical systems for next-generation industrial robotic platforms. This role focuses on system-level electrical architecture, embedded systems, power distribution, PCB design, industrial controls, and robotic system integration across complex electromechanical products.
Responsibilities include working hands-on throughout the full product life cycle, providing technical leadership, collaborating cross-functionally, and shaping the electrical architecture of robotic systems. The position offers ownership, visibility, and opportunity for long-term technical growth within a rapidly scaling robotics organization.
Required Skills & Experience- 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering within robotics, automation, or electromechanical systems
- Strong background in electrical system architecture and industrial automation
- Experience with AC/DC power distribution and 3-phase industrial power systems
- Experience designing control systems, power electronics, and embedded hardware
- Strong knowledge of motors, motor controls, encoders, load cells, and industrial sensors
- Experience with PCB design, schematic capture, and electrical documentation
- Proficiency with Altium or equivalent PCB design tools
- Experience supporting products through prototyping, validation, testing, and production release
- Familiarity with electrical safety standards, EMC, and compliance requirements
- Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Experience working with robotic system integration and autonomous robotic platforms
- Familiarity with functional safety standards such as IEC 61508
- Experience with cable harness design and interconnect solutions
- Familiarity with industrial robot safety standards
- Experience with CAD tools such as On Shape
- Background supporting manufacturing, sustaining engineering, and field troubleshooting
- Experience working in fast-paced startup or R&D environments
