Job Description

As a Project Technical Leader (PTL) you will play a critical role in delivering high‑quality technical outcomes across our projects. In this role, you would be responsible for defining and driving the project's technical vision, working in close partnership with the Project Manager (PM) and reporting directly to the PM.

In this role, you will coordinate the technical content of both design and non‑design projects, using proactive and preventative delivery approaches to minimize rework, improve efficiency, and ensure consistent, high‑quality results.

Key Responsibilities

Translate high‑level project objectives into engineering designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and sewer systems, pipelines, pump stations, and related infrastructure, ranging from basic to high complexity.

Lead technical coordination across disciplines to ensure designs meet client needs, project requirements, and regulatory standards.

Review technical designs and reports for quality, accuracy, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; provide technical approval on completed deliverables as appropriate.

Ensure all technical work aligns with firm standards, policies, and best practices.

Conduct site visits, field reviews, and technical studies as needed to confirm design assumptions and location‑specific requirements; update design criteria as projects evolve.

Contribute to the firm's Technical Knowledge Management (TKM) program by developing white papers, documenting innovative or specialized designs, and supporting publication in technical journals.

Collaborate with sales and business development teams to support proposals and responses to RFPs, including development and review of technical approaches.

Engage with current and prospective clients to understand their needs, provide technical insight, and support long‑term relationships.

Represent the firm at conferences, symposia, and industry events to enhance visibility of technical expertise and services.

Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and training to junior staff, supporting their professional growth within the discipline and firm.

May oversee and review the technical work of junior engineers assigned to project teams.

Perform other duties as needed to support successful project delivery.
