Job OverviewWe have a great opportunity for an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer to join our Boston office. As an entry-level engineer, you’ll have the chance to perform geotechnical engineering design and analysis of foundation systems, retaining structures and slopes for transportation infrastructure projects for both public and private clients.
Your engineering skills will be developed with design and analysis of shallow and deep foundations including piles and drilled shafts, retaining walls and support of excavation systems.
You’ll also inspect geotechnical exploratory and construction related activities and specifically develop as well as perform oversight of subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs.
You’ll work with the best Engineers and Project Managers in the business, empowered to deliver bold solutions for everyday living.
Responsibilities- Design and analyze foundation systems, retaining structures, and slopes for transportation infrastructure projects.
- Conduct design and analysis of shallow and deep foundations, including piles and drilled shafts.
- Design retaining walls and support excavation systems.
- Inspect geotechnical exploratory and construction-related activities.
- Develop and oversee subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Working knowledge of soil mechanics theory and laboratory testing techniques.
- Engineer-In-Training certificate.
- Master of Science in Civil Engineering beneficial but not required.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel for work.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer skills including CADD and Microsoft Office.
- Driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
- 0 to 2 years of design experience in a consulting/contracting environment.
- At least a 3.0 GPA.
- MS degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Previous internship in geotechnical evaluations, soil and rock classification, design analysis of foundation and ground retention systems.
- Familiarity with geotechnical analysis programs such as Ensoft APile, LPile and Group, Geo Studio Slope/Rocscience SLIDE, GRLWeap, Deep Ex, Bentley gINT/Open ground, and AutoCAD.
- Python programming and application of AI and ML in civil engineering applications advantageous.
- Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
