What You’ll Do
  • Under minimal direction, perform and lead complex planning, environmental planning, landscape architecture, and urban design project responsibilities.
  • Write and review major sections and lead production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents.
  • Coordinate and synthesize the contributions of others.
  • Prepare and review graphics, technical reports, work plans, scopes of work, fee proposals, and responses to Requests for Proposals.
  • Prepare and review budgets, invoicing, and billing.
  • Lead public and stakeholder engagement and present information to the community.
  • Provide guidance and mentor staff.
  • Coordinate with clients, sub-consultants, and in-house personnel on a regular basis to complete assigned tasks.
  • Recommend process and system improvements that result in greater efficiencies, enhanced capacities, and improved service delivery.
  • Support department managers and office leadership with strategic planning, staffing/training, and other special projects.
  • May serve as project manager or task lead.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field and at least 10 years of related experience.
  • OR Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field and at least 9 years of relevant experience.
What You’ll Bring
  • Lead wetland and waterway permitting efforts for transportation and infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare and review permit applications (e.g., USACE Section 401/404, Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act permits, Chapter 91 license).
  • Conduct wetland delineations, function and values assessments, and mitigation monitoring.
  • Develop compensatory mitigation plans in compliance with federal and state guidance.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS and GPS technologies for field data collection, spatial analysis, and mapping of wetland and waterways resources.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and clients to ensure compliance with environmental requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate environmental considerations into project design.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff on permitting and compliance processes.
  • Stay current with evolving federal, state, and local environmental regulations and guidance.
  • Oversee the preparation of reports and conduct quality reviews.
  • Present and defend reports to audiences.
  • Manage client meetings and oversee preparation of meeting materials without oversight from others.
What We Prefer
  • Master's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Planning, or a related field.
  • Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS).
  • New Hampshire Certified Wetland Scientist (CWS).
