Summer Internship (Full-time)
Company OverviewNdimensions Labs is a group of technologists from MIT, the University of Waterloo, and the University of Washington, focused on building the infrastructure and learning systems behind next-generation robotics AI. We design and build the physical platforms, electronics, and experimental hardware that power our embodied AI research.
The RoleWe are looking for a hands‑on Hardware & Electronics Intern to join our hardware team for the summer. You will work alongside engineers on the design, assembly, and testing of robotics components and electronics boards that form the backbone of our robotic systems.
This is a practical, lab‑based role where you will gain direct experience building and validating real robotic hardware and electronics in a fast‑moving research environment.
What You’ll Do- Assist with the design and prototyping of mechanical and electromechanical components for robotic systems.
- Assemble, solder, and test custom electronics boards (PCBs, sensor arrays, motor drivers, power systems).
- Integrate sensors, actuators, and compute modules into robotic platforms.
- Run hardware validation and testing procedures, documenting results and failure modes.
- Help debug and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in robotic assemblies.
- Collaborate with the AI and systems teams to ensure hardware meets requirements for data collection and experimentation.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
- Hands‑on experience with electronics (soldering, bread boarding, basic circuit design).
- Familiarity with CAD tools for mechanical or PCB design (e.g., Solid Works, Fusion 360, KiCad, Altium).
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, datasheets, and technical drawings.
- Comfortable working in a lab environment with physical hardware and tools.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing and documentation.
- Experience with embedded systems or microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, STM
32, ESP
32, Raspberry Pi). - Familiarity with ROS or robotics middleware.
- Prior experience with 3D printing, laser cutting, or other rapid prototyping methods.
- Coursework or projects involving robot arm design, sensor integration, or motor control.
Duration:
Summer 2025 (approximately 12 weeks).
Type:
Full‑time internship.
