Software Engineering Manager; Robotics Motion Planning

A rapidly growing robotics and warehouse automation company in the Greater Boston area is hiring a full-time Software Engineering Manager, Motion Planning to lead and scale a team developing advanced motion planning software for industrial robotic systems. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and robotics software development, with a focus on motion planning, robotic manipulation, controls algorithms, simulation, and production deployment.

• 5+ years of experience in robotics software development
• 2+ years of experience managing or leading engineering teams
• Strong proficiency in C++ and Python
• Experience with ROS or other robotics software frameworks
• Experience mentoring engineers through code reviews, coaching, and technical leadership
• Strong understanding of robotics software development lifecycle and best practices
• Experience collaborating across product, software, and hardware teams
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
• Experience troubleshooting complex robotic systems and software issues

• Knowledge of motion planning algorithms such as RRT, trajectory optimization, and model predictive control (MPC)
• Experience with robotic manipulators and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs)
• Familiarity with simulation platforms such as Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or similar tools
• Experience deploying robotics software into production environments
• Strong understanding of controls systems and robotic autonomy architectures
• Experience working in warehouse automation, logistics, or industrial robotics environments
• Passion for staying current with emerging robotics research and technologies
• Experience scaling engineering teams in high‑growth environments
