Overview
A rapidly growing robotics and warehouse automation company in the Greater Boston area is hiring a full-time Physical AI Architect to lead the development of next-generation AI systems deployed on real-world robotic platforms. This role focuses on physical AI, diffusion-based policy learning, optimal control, robot manipulation, perception, planning, and hardware-integrated autonomy systems. The position offers the opportunity to define the technical vision for AI-driven robotics while working directly with production hardware, advanced machine learning models, and high-throughput warehouse automation systems.
Responsibilities- Define and drive the technical vision and roadmap for AI-driven robotics autonomy systems that combine modern AI techniques with robust robotic control and hardware integration.
- Architect production-ready autonomy software stacks, mentor senior engineers, and influence the long-term autonomy strategy of a rapidly scaling robotics organization.
- Lead the development and deployment of AI-powered robotic systems in real-world production environments.
- Collaborate with hardware teams to integrate perception, planning, and control with physical systems.
- Measure success through deployed systems and impact on operations rather than solely through research outputs.

Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience deploying AI-powered robotic systems into production environments
- MS or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related field, or equivalent industry experience
- Deep expertise in diffusion models and diffusion-based policy learning for robotics applications
- Strong knowledge of optimal control theory, model predictive control (MPC), trajectory optimization, and feedback control systems
- Experience architecting end-to-end robotic autonomy systems including perception, planning, and control
- Hands-on experience integrating AI systems with physical robotic hardware
- Experience with sensor technologies including RGB-D cameras, force/torque sensors, encoders, and related systems
- Experience with embedded compute platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson, ARM-based systems, or similar hardware
- Strong programming skills in Python and C++
- Experience with ROS 2 or similar robotics middleware frameworks
- Strong understanding of real-time robotic systems and performance optimization
- Excellent communication and technical leadership skills
Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience deploying robot manipulation and warehouse automation systems
- Expertise in score-based generative models, behavior cloning, or learning-based planning systems
- Experience with actuator controls, embedded systems, and hardware/software co-design
- Familiarity with FPGA-based compute architectures
- Experience scaling and mentoring high-performing robotics engineering teams
- Strong understanding of system observability, fault tolerance, and operational reliability
- Experience working within startup or high-growth robotics organizations
- Background in logistics, warehouse automation, or industrial robotics preferred
