Electrical Engineer – Mission Critical & Healthcare
About the Role
We’re partnering with a leading MEP engineering firm in the Boston area to find a talented Electrical Engineer to join their growing Mission Critical and Healthcare practice. This is an exciting opportunity to work on technically complex, high‑stakes projects that directly impact critical infrastructure and patient care environments.
You will be working across a diverse portfolio of projects — from data centers and colocation facilities to hospitals, medical office buildings, and life sciences campuses — collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers who are passionate about delivering exceptional built environments.
What You’ll Be Doing- Designing electrical systems for mission critical facilities (data centers, UPS, generator systems, critical power distribution) and healthcare environments (essential electrical systems, nurse call, code‑compliant medical gas coordination)
- Producing and reviewing construction documents, specifications, and calculations
- Serving as a technical lead or project engineer on mid‑to‑large scale projects
- Coordinating with mechanical, structural, and architectural disciplines
- Conducting site visits, reviewing submittals, and supporting construction administration
- Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to a culture of technical excellence
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s a plus)
- 5+ years of experience in building systems / MEP electrical design
- Experience in mission critical and/or healthcare facility design strongly preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred — candidates who are PE‑eligible and actively pursuing licensure are encouraged to apply; however this is NOT a requirement
- Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical analysis software (e.g. SKM, Easy Power)
- Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA 99, NFPA 110, and applicable codes for healthcare and data center environments
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage client relationships
