SR Electrical Engineer (Must be able to work independently)
A nationally recognized MEP consulting engineering firm is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its growing team. This is a unique opportunity to work on some of the country’s most iconic and architecturally significant projects, including museums, performing arts venues, higher education facilities, public spaces, historic landmarks, and cultural institutions.

This role is ideal for a technically strong and design-focused engineer who enjoys contributing throughout all phases of project delivery — from concept design through construction administration — while mentoring junior staff and collaborating within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities- Design electrical, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems for complex building projects
- Perform and review engineering calculations including electrical load studies, voltage drop analysis, short circuit calculations, lighting calculations, and COMcheck compliance
- Develop construction documents, specifications, single-line diagrams, and detailed design drawings using Revit
- Select electrical equipment including substations, panel boards, lighting systems, generators, transfer switches, and fire alarm systems
- Design life safety and emergency power systems in accordance with applicable codes and occupancy requirements
- Coordinate closely with architects, consultants, contractors, and internal MEP teams throughout all project phases
- Participate in construction administration including RFIs, submittal reviews, field coordination, construction meetings, and change order review
- Support sustainability initiatives and energy-efficient design strategies including LEED-related documentation
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor to junior engineers and project staff
- Participate in client meetings and contribute to design solutions that support architectural vision and project goals
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related discipline
- 6+ years of relevant experience in building systems engineering
- Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA, energy codes, and applicable building standards
- Experience designing electrical systems for complex institutional, cultural, or commercial projects
- Proficiency with Autodesk Revit and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication, coordination, and technical problem-solving abilities
PE license preferred
