As a DFM Project Engineer, you will work with customers across an array of industries, including aerospace, defense, commercial, automotive, industrial and medical devices. You will evaluate manufacturability of customer designs and recommend solutions utilizing Xometry’s extensive portfolio of technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement applicable sourcing strategy.
  • Assist production in troubleshooting order execution to ensure customer success after an order is placed.
  • Interface directly with machine shops, sheet metal fabrication shops, internal staff members and management, and customers.
  • Lead special projects related to expanding the capabilities of Xometry’s manufacturing partner network, working with OEM equipment makers and internal teams to improve core competencies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, technical or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years in an engineering and manufacturing environment.
  • 1–2 years of manufacturing engineering experience with a focus on Injection Molding.
  • Knowledge of optimum equipment selections, process cycle times, material limitations, costs and geometry limitations.
  • Experience working with suppliers, OEM equipment providers, and customers.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and inspection/QA practices.
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling software (Solid Works preferred).
  • Ability to identify DFM issues based on CAD models and drawings.
  • Design for manufacturing of CNC and 3D printed components is a plus.
  • Injection molding experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work with customers on the fly and solve problems quickly.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Ability to work with partners to troubleshoot production issues and answer partner questions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
Additional Experience
  • Knowledge of CNC machining and/or sheet metal fabrication practices for both high and low volume runs, including 3/4/5‑axis milling.
  • Turning with live tooling.
  • Familiarity with various post‑processing/plating finishes for machined parts.
  • Familiarity with specialty processes such as wire and sinker EDM, lapping, grinding, honing and gun drilling (plus).
  • Material selection knowledge including press brake, laser, plasma, water‑jet cutting (plus).
  • Experience with welding of various materials and stamping technologies.

The estimated base salary range for new hires into this role is $65,000 – $85,000 annually, depending on job‑related skills, relevant experience, and location.
