This Senior Transient Analysis Engineer position will make immediate contributions to the team responsible for Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) transient analyses. The engineer will perform thermal‑hydraulic and plant transient analyses to support BWR reload analysis, power uprate, and new power plant analyses, applying state‑of‑the‑art thermal‑hydraulics methods to satisfy licensing requirements and solve real day‑to‑day plant problems.
Roles and Responsibilities- Lead a variety of projects including technical evaluations and analyses in the area of Anticipated Operational Occurrences, Anticipated Transients without Scram, Reactor Heat Balance, and Thermal Hydraulic Fuel Channel Analyses
- Deliver products at a consistently high and sustainable level in accordance with customer requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines
- Use excellent communication, presentation, and teamwork skills to interface with individuals with diverse backgrounds
- Represent the organization in customer‑facing opportunities through training, deliverables, and collaboration
- Create and/or improve cutting‑edge automation and methods
- Contribute positively within a dynamic team environment
- Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, and calculations
- Perform technical verification of engineering deliverables
- Provide engineering expertise, guidance, and technical mentoring
- Prepare, communicate, and present complex technical issues to internal and external customers and recommend solutions
- Implement continual improvement of transient analysis work processes
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned
- B.S. degree in an engineering discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or similar)
- At least 8 years of relevant nuclear experience
- Access to U.S. export‑controlled information is required; final offers contingent on obtaining authorization from the U.S. Government
- Preferred work location: GEH Headquarters, Wilmington, NC; remote candidates considered
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Engineering, or Senior Reactor Operator Certification
- Experience with BWR core simulation and thermal‑hydraulic systems codes
- Extensive knowledge of BWR systems and integrated plant response
- Extensive knowledge of nuclear engineering fundamentals (nuclear physics, thermal hydraulics, mechanical design) as applied to BWR
- Experience with standard engineering work planning and design process techniques
- High personal integrity and honesty
