About The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Staff Engineering Program Manager to manage the development of two early-stage robotics products. Reporting directly to the SVP of Robotics, you will partner closely with our hardware and software leaders to implement program management systems, manage detailed timelines, define priorities, navigate complex trade-offs and ensure our most ambitious robotic platforms move from concept to prototype to real world pilots.

The

Impact You Will Make
  • Partner closely with engineering leaders to enhance our R&D program management systems, unifying our documentation and task tracking methods into a cohesive organizational structure.
  • Own the detailed timeline, scope and engineering milestones for two flagship robotics products, ensuring that relevant stakeholders in our matrixed team are aligned and informed.
  • Translate high-level product milestones into detailed execution schedules and cross-functional Gantt charts, ensuring everyday task assignments and sprint plans directly align with the overarching master timeline.
  • Establish best practices for sprint planning, team meetings, and progress reporting; ensure project management tools and documentation frameworks complement our dynamic culture and work effectively across our matrixed organization.
  • Identify risks in the hardware development cycle and develop contingency plans to keep programs on track. Ensure that teams are always focused on the highest priority, highest risk problems.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across mechanical, electrical, controls, testing and software teams; lead regular syncs and program reviews. Proactively keep our documentation updated and streamlined.
  • Drive resourcing decisions. Identify where our teams need most support and advocate for new roles that will help accomplish our goals.
  • Embrace a high-ownership, "no task too small" mentality; seamlessly cross traditional functional boundaries and wear whatever hat is required to unblock engineers, solve operational hurdles, and keep the program moving forward.
What You Bring to the Table
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or a related technical field).
  • 10+ years of professional experience, with a significant portion spent as a hands-on Mechanical, Hardware or Systems Engineer and a significant portion spent in cross-functional Program Management for new product development. Experience specifically in the robotics field is a major plus.
  • Founding Mindset:
Proven experience building program management processes from "Zero to One." You are comfortable with ambiguity and enjoy creating order out of chaos.
  • Hardware Fluency:
Deep understanding of the hardware development lifecycle, including experience managing complex BOMs and physical prototyping schedules.
  • Cross-Functional Mastery:
The ability to speak "Software" and "Hardware" fluently, bridging the gap between software features and mechanical assembly.
  • Strategic Precision:
Exceptional organizational skills and a mastery of modern project management tools (Jira & Confluence), with the ability to architect these tools for a matrixed team.
  • High EQ & Influence: A track record of leading senior technical teams through influence rather than authority, winning the "hearts and minds" of engineers through technical credibility.
  • Product and Business focused mindset: you have experience understanding product requirements and becoming deeply embedded in business priorities and user needs.

This role requires a minimum of 4 days a week in the office, with additional days as needed based on project demands.

This role is based in our Boston office in Charlestown, MA

Massachusetts: $188,000 - $208,000 per year + Equity
