Mission Hires is seeking an Automation Controls Engineer to develop, integrate, and maintain manufacturing equipment control systems, HMIs, and industrial communication networks. You will collaborate with senior corporate engineers, integrators, and plant teams to improve systems architecture, drive efficiency and output, and support site operations through troubleshooting, training, documentation, and start-ups. This role requires travel to facilities for project work and commissioning, strong communication, and a safety-first mindset.
Responsibilities- Develop, integrate, and maintain manufacturing equipment control systems and automation solutions
- Design, configure, and support HMIs and SCADA systems
- Implement and maintain industrial communications networks and related infrastructure
- Work under the direction of senior corporate engineers and system integrators
- Collaborate with site Control Technicians on troubleshooting, training, and equipment start-ups
- Partner with Plant Operations to evolve systems architecture and maximize manufacturing efficiencies and output
- Support local Operations with electrical and automation system needs
- Create clear written instructions and procedure manuals for local Maintenance teams
- Assist with project work, commissioning, and start-ups across multiple facilities
- Adhere to and promote a strong safety culture across all activities and sites
- Experience with Rockwell RSLogix 5/500/5000 and Studio 5000
- Experience with Rockwell RSView and Factory Talk Studio
- Experience with Wonderware System Platform, InTouch, InBatch, and Historian
- Experience with Rockwell Power Flex Variable Frequency Drives
- Experience with Rockwell Point I/O and Flex I/O systems
- Beneficial exposure to industrial instruments: flow meters, temperature probes, level sensors, photoeyes, and solenoid valves
- Beneficial experience with Microsoft SQL
- Beneficial experience with AutoCAD
- Beneficial experience with VMware Workstation Player and vSphere
- Beneficial programming skills (C++, Visual Basic, Java, Python, etc.)
- Beneficial knowledge of Cisco networking hardware
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good understanding of industrial automation programming concepts
- Strong understanding of electrical concepts and theories
- Understanding of computer WAN and LAN networks
- Ability to interact effectively with plant personnel at all levels (hourly and salaried)
- Customer-focused personality and approach
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public
- Ability to apply logical/scientific thinking to diverse technical problems
- Ability to work and manage time independently and troubleshoot quickly and effectively
- Availability to travel to all facilities for project work and start-ups
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel by commercial air
- Commitment to creating and maintaining a safe work environment
