Radio Frequency Test Engineer

What You’ll Do

As a Senior RF Test & Validation Engineer, you will be a key technical leader responsible for RF product development and validation  will help design and build Simpli Safe’s RF capabilities to achieve best‑in‑class wireless connectivity, work closely with engineering teams to select chipsets and optimize mechanical and electrical designs, and lead our ODM design partners through design, test, and qualification of new products.

• Establish and maintain performance metrics for all wireless protocols (Wi‑Fi, BLE, Radar, and Sub‑GHz) to meet product requirements.
• Build and maintain Simpli Safe’s RF testing capabilities, including test plans and equipment selection.
• Lead and audit ODM design partners through testing and qualification phases, reviewing their reports to ensure completeness.
• Characterize wireless chipsets and antenna systems to validate vendor claims and ensure suitability for Simpli Safe’s hardware constraints.
• Act as the RF consultant to Electrical and Mechanical teams to validate that board layouts and mechanical enclosures preserve RF integrity.
• Review PRDs and author RF technical requirements that meet product needs.
• Drive development of automated test scripts to increase validation coverage and repeatability.
• Root cause RF field‑related issues.
• Travel: Willing to travel to manufacturing partners in China 1‑3 times per year.

• Validating radio and front‑end performance across 400 MHz to 70 GHz bands, with a focus on high‑reliability consumer electronics.
• Proven ability to translate Product Requirements into technical RF specifications.
• Advanced skills in debugging desense, interference, and coexistence issues in multi‑radio environments.
• Knowledge of encoding methods and modulation schemes such as OFDM, Frequency Hopping, QAM, GFSK, UWB, convolution encoding, STBC.
• Expert‑level operation of VNA, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, and Wideband Radio Communication Testers (e.g., IQxel, LitePoint, Rohde & Schwarz).
• Experience with RF emission requirements and testing for FCC, ETSI, Radio and Emission qualifications.
• Experience with debugging RF issues and evaluating TIS, TRP, BER, Return Loss, Desense, radiation patterns, etc.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in RF/Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in RF testing and validation, with a proven track record of bringing products to market.

The target annual base pay range for this role is $118,100 to $157,500.
