STV is seeking a dynamic Plumbing Designer/Plumbing Engineering Specialist to join our team in the Boston, MA office. The Buildings Division provides design services to both public agencies and private corporations, working on public transit, convention centers, transportation maintenance facilities, municipal buildings such as public works facilities, and light commercial/retail. Other potential projects include correctional facilities, law enforcement, public health, and both K-12 and higher education buildings.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare plumbing designs, calculations, estimates, reports, and specifications for building projects under the direction of senior engineers and senior designers.
- Conduct site surveys of existing conditions.
- Assist with construction punch lists.
- Participate in client meetings to discuss project needs and provide recommendations.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, hydraulic calculations, specification writing, and cost estimating.
- Familiarity with applicable building codes.
- Ability to collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience with plumbing systems including sanitary, storm, domestic water, and natural gas.
- Strong Revit skills; exposure to fire protection systems (wet/dry/pre‑action sprinklers and standpipes) is a plus.
- Exposure to LEED AP, CPD, or PE certifications is preferred but not required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or a credential such as CPD (Certified in Plumbing Design).
- 3–5 years of relevant experience designing industrial, educational, institutional, or governmental projects.
- Experience with industrial, state agency, or municipal projects is a plus.
- Progress toward PE licensure is preferred.
